The "Workin Me" rapper is making his promotional rounds for his new LP and recently chopped it up with the Associated Press where he talked about stepping outside of his comfort zone and delivering his solo work. Early on, Qua lets the cat out of the bag and shares some details on the forthcoming CIII album. "We’ll be at the top of 2019," he announced. "We’re going to hit them with Culture III."
Huncho also revealed during the interview that his bandmates Offset and Takeoff would be following suit and dropping solo albums as well. "I don’t know the exact dates. But Takeoff will be next and (then) Offset will come," he revealed.
Culture II was released in January 2018 and featured the big singles, "MotorSport," "Walk It, Talk It," "Stir Fry" and "Narcos," and guest appearances from Drake, 2 Chianz, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, Post Malone, 21 Savage and more.
The trio may be prepping another album as well. The group has been on tour with Drake for the last few months and it appears the artists are working on a joint project while on the road.
In addition to the album news, Quavo also discussed the fact that he's planning to renovate his childhood home in Gwinnett so that a less fortunate family can live there without the burden of rent or mortgage.
QUAVO TALKS ‘CULTURE III,’ SUPER BOWL, & WORKING WITH KANYE WEST
After a busy 2018, which saw the release of Culture II and his debut solo album Quavo Huncho, Quavo has no plans to slow down.Fresh off Migos’ Mustard collaboration “Pure Water,” the prolific MC spoke to Billboard about his upcoming projects including Culture III, the third installment in Migos’ Culture series. The album was due early this year, but it’s not quite finished. Quavo now expects it to arrive following Offset’s solo debut.
“Culture III is not ready yet,” he said. “We’re waiting on Offset’s solo album.”
During the interview, he also addressed Souja Boy’s claim on “The Breakfast Club” that he gave Migos the “Versace” beat. “Nah, he recorded on the ‘Versace’ beat,” explained Quavo. “Zaytoven normally does this all the time where he sends the same beat out. Growing up, I think I heard the song, it was like an ‘OMG’ song. Then we ended up doing a harder record with some harder lyrics. Soulja most definitely influenced a lot of everybody’s work. He’s speaking facts. He hasn’t said anything wrong.”
According to Quavo, Migos considered performing at the Super Bowl halftime show. “It’s something we put up for questioning, but due to a lot of things going on, we won’t put a definite answer on it,” he said. “We’ll talk about it amongst the people and see how they feel about it.”
But he’s happy to see Travis Scott and Big Boi take the gig despite the controversy. “Of course I’m proud to see my partner Travis, this is a big stage for him,” he said. “I’m proud of Big Boi because he represents the city of Atlanta. It’s not as tough as the world want to make it. As long as we got understanding as grown men and what our understanding is for the future.”
Additionally, Migos has recorded a song for Mountain Dew called “Position to Win,” which will be featured in the brand’s upcoming “Do the DEW” commercial. “We wanted to bring it to the culture with the EDM-trap twist to it,” said Quavo. “I think it’s a big moment for us.”
